Tone and Voice

• We encourage you to share your personal stories. The final message will ideally be a celebration of your mixedness, inspire others and be entertaining and educational
• If you are sharing a personal story, please write in first person (Me, myself, and I)
• You may wish to use third person when explaining more informational concepts.
• Please write conversationally but not informally. Please avoid using slang but writing ‘don’t’ is fine.
• Bring out your personality in your posts. There is no right or wrong way to write.
• Explain yourself clearly and concisely.

Length

• Optimum length – 600 words not over 2,000
• Excerpt length 11 words
• Accessible paragraphs
• Title no longer than 10 words

Language

• When writing a non-English word/term, please write the romanisation then write the English translation in brackets. E.G. Hoshuko (Japanese Saturday school)
• Numbers one to nine written out in full, 10 onwards numbered when in a body of text
• Date: don’t write st/nd/rd/th

Media

• Our preference is personal photos/videos. Please have the consent of everyone featured. We can blur faces out if necessary.
• Any media that is not personal, please source from royalty free websites or state its source
• Media should be the highest quality you can find.
• Captions – explain the photo/video
• If you want to use an Instagram photo – please add the link into your post
